Wellington extended the longest winning streak in 1A-2 Region I District 1 this week by beating Shamrock, 56-14. This was the team's eighth consecutive win.
Booker moved up to 740 from 790 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Kiowas were able to make move up by besting Wheeler 43-12.
Booker's dynamic duo of Hunter Lile and Brett Cox proved tough for the Mustangs to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Lile threw for 316 yards and five touchdowns and Cox had 85 yards receiving. Damian DeSantiago helped Booker's passing attack out by catching five balls for 76 yards.
Terry Gilbreath was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 321 yards on nine carries as Wellington defeated Wheeler. Teammate Johnny Davis added to the ground attack by rushing for 80 yards.
The Kiowas' Lile and Jared Reagan have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 1A-2 Region I District 1 in both passing and receiving yards. Lile has thrown for 2721 yards this season, while Reagan, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 60 catches for 777 yards. Gilbreath from Wade Williams' team leads the league in rushing with 1406 yards.
