A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Wildcats take on the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Forest is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Lake Weir 14-2 on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.
The team relied heavily on Jaiden Prestipino, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs. Those runs marked the first that she scored this season. Olivia Lewis was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 5-for-5.
Forest kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Lecanto can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They never let River Ridge get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory.
Not much got past Abigail Males, who gave up just two hits and racked up ten Ks to keep River Ridge off the board. Males has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Lecanto's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Izzy Coimbre, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.
Lecanto's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-5. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 8.4 runs. As for Forest, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Lecanto's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Forest has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .464. It's a different story for Lecanto, though, as they've only averaged .333. Will they be able to contain Forest's hitters?
Forest might still be hurting after the 7-1 loss they got from Lecanto in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Forest avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
