If the Western Christian Fighting Lancers were feeling good off their 41-15 takedown of the Newport Christian Seahawks last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Western Christian lost to San Gabriel Academy at home by a decisive 43-27 margin on Tuesday. Western Christian was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as San Gabriel Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Western Christian's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of CeCe Balderrama, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds, and Madi Bauer who scored six points along with eight rebounds. Balderrama scored a full 37% of Western Christian's points, the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Western Christian has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season. As for San Gabriel Academy, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Western Christian will take on Woodcrest Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Woodcrest Christian is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. San Gabriel Academy is on the road again on Monday and play against Avalon at 2:00 p.m. on January 15th.
