Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up seven more assists than your opponent, a fact Kennedy proved on Friday. They came out on top against McClatchy by a score of 57-48. Given Kennedy's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 257th, while McClatchy is ranked 782nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Kennedy's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Jordan Lawrence, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds, and Aharon Young, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lawrence has scored all season. Eric Lopez was another key contributor, scoring six points along with seven assists.
Meanwhile, Grant beat Antelope 86-78 on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Grant.
Kennedy's win bumped their record up to 13-7. As for Grant, their victory bumped their record up to 11-8.
Kennedy took a serious blow against Grant when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 81-43. Can Kennedy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
