The Norco Cougars pushed their score all the way to 75 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 80-75 hit to the loss column at the hands of Orange Vista. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Friday (57), Norco still had to take the loss.
Norco lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kameron Brown, who scored 27 points. The match was Brown's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Matthew Mendias was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.
Orange Vista got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Eric Wooten out in front who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. Wooten has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Omar Travis, who scored 21 points.
Norco has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-10 record this season. As for Orange Vista, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
Norco will head out on the road to face off against Corona at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Corona is on a six-game streak of home wins, Norco a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Orange Vista will take on Temescal Canyon at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Temescal Canyon will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
