The Carrollwood Day Patriots are taking a road trip to face off against the IMG Academy Royal Ascenders at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Carrollwood Day: 2.4, IMG Academy Royal: 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Carrollwood Day had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 13-run drubbing they dealt Saint Mary's Hall on Friday. Everything went Carrollwood Day's way against Saint Mary's Hall as Carrollwood Day made off with a 13-0 win. That 13 run margin sets a new team best for the Patriots this season.

Gabe Troya looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Carrollwood Day let Allen Soriano and Steven Vargo run wild. Soriano got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Vargo scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases Vargo has posted since back in May of 2024. Ashton Brown also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Carrollwood Day always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, IMG Academy Royal entered their tilt with Sports Leadership & Management on Friday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Spartans. While the Ascenders didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Richie Alvarez looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Michael Pino, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Jaxson Vassallo was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
IMG Academy Royal's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Carrollwood Day, their record is now 5-2.
