After losing to the Evansville North Huskies the last time they met, the Jeffersonville Red Devils decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Jeffersonville came out on top against Evansville North by a score of 48-40 on Saturday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Jeffersonville.
Jeffersonville was led to victory by Elle Marble and Keziah Renee. Marble scored 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals, while Renee' scored 15 points. Renee' continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Laqaya Gold, who scored eight points.
Evansville North's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brooke Silva, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Libby Blythe was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Jeffersonville is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. As for Evansville North, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 13-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jeffersonville will square off against New Albany at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. New Albany will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 248th, while Jeffersonville is ranked 48th). Evansville North is on the road again on Thursday and play against Vincennes Lincoln at 7:00 p.m. on January 11th.
