Softball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Andie Bell and Ashley Theisen Lead Clinton to Victory

Clinton lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Edgerton, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's contest. The Cougars never let the Crimson Tide get on the board and left with a 17-0 win on Tuesday. Considering the Cougars have won five matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Ashley Theisen and Andie Bell made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Theisen tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Bell tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in ten consecutive appearances. At bat, Theisen went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Bell went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits Theisen has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Clinton got a massive performance out of Maycee Morris, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and two RBI. Those three runs gave Morris a new career-high. Macy Hinz was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Clinton hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive games.

Clinton's record is now 10-5. As for Edgerton, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clinton will take on Big Foot at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Chiefs have averaged an impressive 9.4 runs per game this season. As for Edgerton, they will square off against Evansville at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
