Wheeler is 8-2 against Thrasher since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Wheeler Eagles will be staying on the road to face off against the Thrasher Rebels at 4:00 p.m. on February 9th. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
After soaring to a 20-point win in their last game, Wheeler came back down to earth on Tuesday. They fell just short of Biggersville by a score of 48-45. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Wheeler has suffered since December 14, 2023.
Despite the defeat, Wheeler had strong showings from Rebekah Mason, who scored seven points along with 14 rebounds and two blocks, and Emma Kate Beckham, who scored 12 points along with three steals. Beckham is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. Camryn Sanford was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Meanwhile, Thrasher's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 41-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of Baldwyn. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Thrasher in their matchups with Baldwyn: they've now lost eight in a row.
Wheeler's defeat dropped their record down to 11-15. As for Thrasher, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 16 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-17 record this season.
Wheeler came up short against Thrasher when the teams last played two weeks ago, falling 43-34. Can Wheeler avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
