Cassville and the Mustangs are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2015, but not for long. The Cassville Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the McDonald County Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cassville will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings (they are ranked 346th, while the Mustangs are ranked 86th).
Cassville won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They suffered a tough 54-32 defeat at the hands of Nevada.
Meanwhile, McDonald County scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. Everything went their way against Monett as McDonald County made off with a 66-45 victory. McDonald County has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matchups by 21 points or more this season.
McDonald County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jamie Washam, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds. It was the first time this season that Washam scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Roslynn Huston, who scored 16 points.
Cassville's defeat dropped their record down to 8-10. As for McDonald County, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-6.
Cassville suffered a grim 59-33 defeat to the Mustangs in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Can Cassville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
