Basketball Recap: Kylie Roberts' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Marble Falls over Lampasas

Marble Falls was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 39-35 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lampasas Badgers. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Badgers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kylie Roberts, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten boards. That's the most points Roberts has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Adalynn Wood, who posted seven points and seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, Marble Falls smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in seven consecutive contests.

Marble Falls' loss dropped their record down to 7-18. As for Lampasas, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-13 record this season.

Marble Falls and Lampasas could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Marble Falls (ranked 1055th) will meet Salado (ranked 348th) at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Lampasas (ranked 819th) will meet Jarrell (ranked 286th) at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
