After a string of four wins, the Salpointe Catholic Lancers's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They lost to Brophy College Prep on the road by a decisive 56-42 margin. Salpointe Catholic lost against Brophy College Prep in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 70-56 score last time.
Salpointe Catholic's loss came despite strong showings from Ben Aronson and Logan Martinez. Aronson scored 8 points along with 3 steals, while Martinez scored 10 points. The team also got some help courtesy of M. J. Gedebou, who scored 4 points.
Salpointe Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Brophy College Prep, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Salpointe Catholic will take on Tucson High Magnet School at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Tucson High Magnet School has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Brophy College Prep, they will play host again and welcome O'Connor, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in O'Connor's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
