They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with  an  8-6  win over the Pearl River Pirates. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won  3-2  on Sunday.
 Matthew Nevin made a splash no matter where he played. He  tossed seven innings while giving up  three earned  (and three unearned) runs off   six  hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate,  getting on base  in four of his five plate appearances with two  runs.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Tyler Wein, who  got on base  in four of his five plate appearances with one  run, one  double,  and one  RBI.
Albertus Magnus' victory was  their third straight on the road, which  pushed their record up to 12-7. Those  road  wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Pearl River, they have  been struggling recently as they've  lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record  this season.
