Football Recap: San Pedro Skates Past Peninsula with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask San Pedro). They blew past the Peninsula Panthers 44-13 on Monday. Considering the Pirates have won five contests by more than 21 points this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead San Pedro to victory, but perhaps none more so than Fatima Ramirez, who picked up 145 receiving yards and four scores. Those four receiving touchdowns gave Ramirez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenna Ortega, who threw for 124 yards and five touchdowns while completing 88.9% of her passes.

San Pedro didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Marilyn Reza and Daniela Ardiaz.

The win (which was San Pedro's fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 6.5 points on average over those games. As for Peninsula, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.

Coincidentally, San Pedro and Peninsula will both be playing Mira Costa the next time they take the field. The Pirates will host the Mustangs at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Panthers will head out to face them at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
