Dillon Wildrick made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Braden Peasel and Bairyk Schulte did most of the damage at the plate: Peasel scored five runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4, while Schulte went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI and two doubles. Those four hits gave Schulte a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jalen O'Neal, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
San Tan Charter was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .567. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .480 or higher in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Glendale Prep Academy hadn't done well against Camp Verde recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Glendale Prep Academy put the hurt on Camp Verde with a sharp 15-0 win. Considering the Griffins have won four contests by more than ten runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Like San Tan Charter, Glendale Prep Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Logan Middendorf. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Middendorf has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Corbin Kim, who scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Josiah Simms was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Glendale Prep Academy's victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for San Tan Charter, their record is now 9-1.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. San Tan Charter hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .427. However, it's not like Glendale Prep Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .387. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went San Tan Charter's way against Glendale Prep Academy in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as San Tan Charter made off with a 16-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for San Tan Charter since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
