The Dayspring Academy Shires's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by Portland on the road and fell 91-18. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Dayspring Academy has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Dayspring Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is John-Michael Martin. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. Martin scored a full 72.2% of Dayspring Academy's points, the ninth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Dayspring Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Portland, their victory bumped their record up to 6-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dayspring Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Valor College Prep at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Portland will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Franklin-Simpson at 6:30 p.m. on December 27th. One thing working in Franklin-Simpson's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five games.
