Life Center Academy has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 73-59 bruising from Cristo Rey Philadelphia on Monday.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Mekhi Robertson, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds. Elijah Brown was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Mercy Career & Technical's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 57-56 to Pine Forge Academy.
Like Mercy Career & Technical, they lost despite seeing results from several players. Anthony Caple led the charge by scoring 18 points. Another player making a difference was Taji Stewart, who scored 13 points.
Life Center Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 24-11. As for Mercy Career & Technical, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-2.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Life Center Academy hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 75 points per game. However, it's not like Mercy Career & Technical struggles in that department as they've been averaging 56.9 points per game.
