The Comenius Knights will head out on the road to square off against the Legion Collegiate Academy Lancers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Comenius and nine for Legion Collegiate Academy.
Comenius pushed their score all the way to 68 last Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of New Hope Leadership Academy by a score of 70-68.
Meanwhile, Legion Collegiate Academy pushed their score all the way to 57 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were outmatched by Carmel Christian on the road and fell 99-57. While losing is never fun, Legion Collegiate Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 396th in South Carolina, while Carmel Christian is ranked 36th in North Carolina).
Comenius has not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-17 record this season. As for Legion Collegiate Academy, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-15.
Comenius strolled past Legion Collegiate Academy in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 by a score of 72-55. The rematch might be a little tougher for Comenius since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
