There's no place like home for the Lakeland Chiefs, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Thursday. They came out on top against Holy Cross by a score of 60-52 on Monday. The victory was all the more spectacular given Lakeland's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 483rd, while Holy Cross is ranked 54th).
Lakeland's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nathan Hunt led the charge by scoring 19 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hunt has scored all season. Another player making a difference was David Naniewicz, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds.
Lakeland's victory bumped their record up to 8-11. As for Holy Cross, their loss ended a eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 16-3.
Lakeland will head out on the road to challenge Old Forge at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Lakeland has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 310 points over their last five matches. As for Holy Cross, they will be playing at home against Dunmore at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Dunmore has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
