The Waldron Mohawks lost against the Jac-Cen-Del Eagles back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Waldron received a tough blow as they fell 62-46 to Jac-Cen-Del. While losing is never fun, Waldron can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 263rd, while Jac-Cen-Del is ranked 111th).
Several Mohawks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alyssa Benson, who scored 15 points along with 7 assists and 3 steals. Audrey Hogg was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 7 rebounds.
It was another big night for Julia Meyer, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 13 rebounds for Jac-Cen-Del. That makes it two consecutive games in which Meyer has scored at least 25% of Jac-Cen-Del's points. Another player making a difference was Reagan Hughes, who scored 11 points along with 6 assists and 4 steals.
Waldron has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Jac-Cen-Del, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-2.
Waldron will be playing in front of their home fans against Morristown at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Morristown focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Saturday. Jac-Cen-Del's road trip will continue as they head out to face New Washington at 7:30 p.m. on December 9th.
