The Spring Valley Grizzlies''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight loss. They took a hard 24-7 fall against Desert Oasis. Spring Valley was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Desert Oasis apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September.
Ezekiel Olie and Tipisone Manu certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Olie threw for 172 yards on 12 of 22 attempts, while Manu only rushed for 105 yards.
Even if they lost, Spring Valley's defense still kept up the pressure with four sacks. Leading the way was Ethan Shuford and his two sacks.
Among those leading the charge was Vincent Hales, who threw for 291 yards and three touchdowns while completing 72% of his passes. Christopher Villasenor did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 91 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Spring Valley's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-7. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 9.3 points per game. As for Desert Oasis, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season.
Spring Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Desert Oasis will head out on the road to face off against Palo Verde at 6:00 p.m. on November 3rd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (Palo Verde is ranked 21st, while Desert Oasis is ranked 34th).
