Cottage has enjoyed a five-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Atlanta Area School for the Deaf Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Cottage's defense has only allowed 28.8 points per game this season, so the Panthers' offense will have their work cut out for them.
On Wednesday, Cottage was able to grind out a solid victory over the Rams, taking the game 40-27.
It was another big night for Alyssa Briggs, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 13 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Finley Love, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Atlanta Area School for the Deaf, who are still winless after their fifth game. They received a tough blow on Thursday as they fell 35-18 to Howard. Atlanta Area School for the Deaf was down 31-8 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Cottage's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-6. As for Atlanta Area School for the Deaf, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.
Everything went Cottage's way against the Panthers in their previous matchup last Tuesday as the Cougars made off with a 46-20 victory. With Cottage ahead 33-4 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
