The Gordonsville Tigers will hit the road for the first time this season to square off against the Coffee County Central Red Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Gordonsville comes in on 20 and Coffee County Central on three.
Gordonsville had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 16-run drubbing they dealt Red Boiling Springs on Thursday. Gordonsville never let Red Boiling Springs get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory. That looming 16-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Tigers yet this season.

Camri Johnson and McKenzie Herron did most of the damage at the plate: Johnson scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Herron scored three runs while going 1-for-2. Those two hits gave Johnson a new career-high. Kailyn Roberts also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Gordonsville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Coffee County Central). They were the clear victor by a 15-0 margin over Spring Hill on Wednesday. The Red Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by nine runs or more this season.
Yeidy Cruz looked comfortable as she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave her a new career-low.
At the plate, Coffee County Central let Paisley Campbell and Taylor Mcbride run wild. Campbell went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI, while Mcbride scored three runs while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Haleigh Skipper, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double.
Gordonsville pushed their record up to 7-0 with the win, which was their 22nd straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 runs on average over those games. As for Coffee County Central, their record now sits at 6-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Gordonsville has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Coffee County Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Gordonsville's way against Coffee County Central when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Gordonsville made off with a 13-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Gordonsville since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
