This season hasn't been kind to the Our Lady of the Rosary Lions, who are still winless after their 11th game. They took a serious blow against Curtis Baptist on Tuesday, falling 45-17. Our Lady of the Rosary was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 26-6.
Curtis Baptist found their leader in underclassman Maci Butler, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. Butler is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 13 games she's played. Bella Ramp was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with four steals and two blocks.
Our Lady of the Rosary dropped their record down to 0-11 with that loss, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 16.3 points per game. As for Curtis Baptist, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 16-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Our Lady of the Rosary will stay at home for another game and welcome the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on February 1st. Cambridge Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Lions in South Carolina (the Cougars are ranked 130th, while the Lions are ranked 267th). As for Curtis Baptist, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the CRUSADERS at 6:45 p.m. South Aiken Baptist Christian comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 22 points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
