South El Monte will challenge Marshall at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (South El Monte 2.2, Marshall 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
South El Monte will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Mountain View on Monday. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Vikings. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by nine runs or more this season.

Ryan Leon and Matthew Medina were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Leon pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Medina pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Leon earned two RBI, one run, and one stolen base, while Medina went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double. That double marked the first that Medina has hit this season.
In other batting news, Armando Huizar and Xavier Cordova did most of the damage at the plate: Huizar went 2-for-3 with five stolen bases and three runs, while Cordova went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI Cordova has posted since back in March. Anthony Romero was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, Marshall fell victim to Montebello and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They fell just short of the Oilers by a score of 1-0. The loss continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Oilers: they've now lost three in a row.
Marshall saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Adan Castro, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.
South El Monte is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Marshall, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-5-1.
South El Monte came out on top in a nail-biter against Marshall in their previous matchup on April 7th, sneaking past 6-5. Does South El Monte have another victory up their sleeve, or will Marshall turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
