The Fonda-Fultonville Valley Hawks will face off against the Salem Generals at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Fonda-Fultonville 2.7, Salem 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Fonda-Fultonville is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They put the hurt on Loudonville Christian with a sharp 10-1 victory. Considering the Valley Hawks have won nine matchups by more than eight runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Landon Hamlen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

Salem's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Lansingburgh on Thursday. The Generals came out on top against Tamarac by a score of 5-2.
Stephen Yakubec made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Yakubec was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Yakubec wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Quinten Rushinski, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Salem hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tamarac struck out nine times.
Salem has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Fonda-Fultonville, they pushed their record up to 15-6 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Fonda-Fultonville has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Salem struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 10.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
