It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Wheeler Eagles can now relate to. They fell 66-53 to the Rebels on Monday. Wheeler was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Hickory Flat apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2023.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Rebekah Mason, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Mason hasn't dropped below ten rebounds for eight straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Marley Garrett, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds.
Wheeler's defeat dropped their record down to 12-16. As for Hickory Flat, their win bumped their record up to 16-13.
Wheeler does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hickory Flat, they will square off against Okolona at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Mississippi (Okolona is ranked 167th, while Hickory Flat is ranked 153rd).
