Baseball Recap: Eastern Montgomery Wins Going Away Against Craig County

Eastern Montgomery won the last time they faced Craig County and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 20-6 margin over the Rockets. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by seven runs or more this season.

Coltin Conner was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Eastern Montgomery got a massive performance out of Austin Tate, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that Tate has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Marshall Tate, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one double.

Eastern Montgomery kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Craig County only managed five hits.

The victory made it two in a row for Eastern Montgomery and bumps their season record up to 9-2-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games. As for Craig County, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Eastern Montgomery didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 22-12 victory against Bath County on the 24th. As for Craig County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 19-4 defeat against Highland on the 24th.
