The Falls Lake Firebirds and the East Bladen Eagles squared off in some playoff action  on Friday, but sadly the Falls Lake Firebirds had to settle for second. They took a  68-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. Falls Lake's loss signaled the end of their 11-game winning streak.
 When it comes to explaining why Falls Lake lost, one person who can't be blamed is  Emerson Thompson. Despite the final result, she  dropped  a double-double on 30 points and 15  rebounds. Thompson is crushing the  rebound category: she's  posted at least ten every time she's  taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of  Destiny Williams, who  scored ten points along with five  rebounds and three  steals.
  Laila Smith continued  her habit of posting crazy stat lines for East Bladen,  dropping  a double-double on 31 points and 11  rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points  Smith has scored all season. Another player making a difference was  NeNe Ward, who  scored 24 points.
 Falls Lake's defeat  ended  a  seven-game streak of wins at home  and  dropped them to 30-3. As for East Bladen, they have  been performing  incredibly well recently as they've  won 11 of their last 12 matchups,  which provided a nice bump to their 25-4 record  this season.
 Falls Lake does not have any more games scheduled as of now. East Bladen's road trip will continue as they head out to face East Columbus at 2:00  p.m.  on March 11th. East Columbus is on a 15-game streak of home wins, East Bladen a five-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
