The Broomfield Eagles entered their tilt with the Cherokee Trail Cougars with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Broomfield snuck past Cherokee Trail with a 59-54 victory on Tuesday. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Broomfield has scored all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Broomfield to victory, but perhaps none more so than Joey Cook, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds. The matchup was Cook's third in a row with at least ten points. Shyya Martinez was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven assists.
Despite the loss, Cherokee Trail saw an underclassman step up: Jordan Mitchell scored 12 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mitchell has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Baack, who scored 11 points.
Broomfield's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Cherokee Trail, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-1.
Broomfield will head out on the road to face off against Roosevelt at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Roosevelt focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Wednesday. As for Cherokee Trail, they will square off against Pomona at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pomona is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
