It was a good run, but the Chopticon Braves unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell 55-48 to McDonough. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Chopticon of the 59-50 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2023.
Despite the loss, Chopticon still got an impressive performance from Braylon Harrison, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Harrison has scored all season. Jordan Pernell was another key contributor, scoring six points along with seven assists.
Mekhai Johnson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for McDonough, scoring 14 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Barrington Streat, who scored eight points.
Chopticon's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for McDonough, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chopticon will challenge St. Charles at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully St. Charles focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Saturday. As for McDonough, they will head out on the road to challenge Patuxent at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Patuxent will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings (they are ranked 229th, while McDonough is ranked 63rd).
