Brewer is 10-0 against the Hornets since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Brewer Bears will be playing in front of their home fans against the Azle Hornets at 7:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Brewer has seven straight victories, the Hornets have 18 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Tuesday, Brewer didn't have too much breathing room in their match against the Bearcats, but they still walked away with a 51-45 win. Given Brewer's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 58th, while the Bearcats are ranked 286th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Julian Perez, who scored 21 points along with four steals. He hasn't dropped below 16 points for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Rayanne Lomboto, who scored six points along with four steals and two blocks.
Meanwhile, Azle took a serious blow against the Rough Riders on Tuesday, falling 93-40. Azle was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-20.
Brewer has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 18 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 25-5 record this season. As for Azle, their loss was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-22.
Brewer strolled past the Hornets in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 56-39. Does Brewer have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hornets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
