The Carrollwood Day Patriots will face off against the Armwood Hawks at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Armwood took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Carrollwood Day, who comes in off a win.
Carrollwood Day had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt St. Petersburg Catholic on Thursday. Carrollwood Day put the hurt on St. Petersburg Catholic with a sharp 11-3 win. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by seven runs or more this season.
Carrollwood Day got a great performance from Gabe Troya as he struck out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts Troya has posted since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, Steven Vargo was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Allen Soriano, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI.
Carrollwood Day lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Armwood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Wharton.
Rhyan Yetman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on ten hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Armwood saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rhys Brush, who went 1-for-3 with one triple. That triple marked the first that Brush hit this season.
Armwood's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Carrollwood Day, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.
Carrollwood Day suffered a grim 12-2 defeat to Armwood when the teams last played back in March of 2021. Can Carrollwood Day avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
