After flying high against Varsity Opponent last Friday, the Dayspring Academy Shires came back down to earth. Dayspring Academy was beaten by Mount Juliet Christian Academy 91-50 on Monday. Dayspring Academy has not had much luck with Mount Juliet Christian Academy recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Despite the loss, Dayspring Academy still got an impressive performance from John-Michael Martin, who dropped a triple-double on 21 points, 12 rebounds, and 12 assists. That was a full 42% of Dayspring Academy's points, marking the 13th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Jordan Jackson was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with three steals.
Dayspring Academy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-19 record this season. As for Mount Juliet Christian Academy, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-14.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dayspring Academy will square off against United Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Dayspring Academy is coming into the game with five straight defeats on the road, so United Christian Academy is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum. As for Mount Juliet Christian Academy, they will square off against Goodpasture Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Goodpasture Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully Mount Juliet Christian Academy likes a good challenge.
