Riverview Sarasota has gone a perfect 6-0 against Southeast recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Rams will host the Seminoles at 6:00 p.m. Riverview Sarasota's pitching crew has only allowed 1.9 runs per game this season, so Southeast's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
While Riverview Sarasota's win against Charlotte wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Rams sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over the Fightin' Tarpons on Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Rams.
Allison Cole made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 18 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one double and one RBI.
Cole wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ella Trandem, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Southeast, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They blew past Bayshore 18-3 on Wednesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Seminoles needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.
Kimberly Cordero was incredible, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nia Civil, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs and one RBI.
Southeast was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .742. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Southeast's win ended a 17-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-11. As for Riverview Sarasota, their victory bumped their record up to 18-4.
Southeast's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Riverview Sarasota has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 11.5 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Southeast, though, as they've been averaging only 1.9 strikeouts. Will Riverview Sarasota keep running through batters, or will the Seminoles buck the trend?
Everything went Riverview Sarasota's way against Southeast in their previous meeting back in March, as Riverview Sarasota made off with a 17-0 win. Do the Rams have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Seminoles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
