Hebbronville is 6-0 against Santa Rosa since September of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Hebbronville Longhorns will head out on the road to face off against the Santa Rosa Warriors at 7:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Texas (Hebbronville is ranked 999th, while Santa Rosa is ranked 997th).
Last Friday, Hebbronville was the victim of a tough 42-20 defeat at the hands of Taft. Hebbronville has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Santa Rosa on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Monte Alto out of the water with a 50-0 final score. Santa Rosa pushed the score to 43-0 by the end of the third, a deficit Monte Alto had no chance of recovering from.
Santa Rosa got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jj Anaya out in front who rushed for 67 yards and three touchdowns. Diego Cruz also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Taft's victory bumped their season record to 4-4 while Hebbronville's loss dropped theirs to 3-5.
Friday's match might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Hebbronville has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 260.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Santa Rosa struggles in that department as they've been averaging 150.6 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Hebbronville was able to grind out a solid win over Santa Rosa in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, winning 14-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hebbronville since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
