Softball Recap: Friday's Win Is Ringgold's Eighth in Last Nine Outings

Ringgold won the last time they faced Woodlawn-Shreveport and things went their way on Friday too. The Redskins blew past the Knights 15-5. The Redskins might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.

Jayla Joyner was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Faith Clifton, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. Emma Mccoy was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in both of her plate appearances.

Ringgold always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .944. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Ringgold has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.6 runs over those games. As for Woodlawn-Shreveport, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ringgold will head out to take on Jonesboro-Hodge at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.56 runs per game on average), something the Redskins will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Woodlawn-Shreveport, they will challenge Carroll at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
