Martin Luther King has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against High School of the Future at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
On Monday, Martin Luther King came up short against West Philadelphia and fell 44-34. While losing is never fun, Martin Luther King can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 523rd, while West Philadelphia is ranked 160th).
Meanwhile, High School of the Future put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Arts Academy at Benjamin Rush 47-8 on the road. With High School of the Future ahead 27-4 at the half, the match was all but over already.
High School of the Future's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Symphany Hinson, who scored 12 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hinson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jahanna Mitchell, who scored 12 points.
Martin Luther King's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for High School of the Future, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-3.
Martin Luther King beat High School of the Future 30-18 in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Martin Luther King since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
