High school football rankings: Edna Karr headlines Louisiana Preseason MaxPreps Top 25

Cougars looking for fifth state championship since 2016.

The 2023 high school football season in Louisiana kicks off later this month and MaxPreps has your look at the state's top teams. Edna Karr (New Orleans) owns the No. 1 spot in the Preseason MaxPreps Top 25.

Edna Karr reached the third round of the Division 1 Select state playoffs before falling by one possession to Catholic-B.R.

The Cougars return playmaking wide receivers in Ole Miss commit Rahji Dennis and junior TaRon Francis, who has big offers himself. Defensively, senior Georgia Tech commit Tah’j Butler leads the way at linebacker.

Defending state champions include John Curtis Christian (River Ridge) in DI Select, Destrehan in DI Non-Select, St. Thomas More (Lafayette) in DII Select, Lutcher in DII Non-Select, St. Charles Catholic (LaPlace) in DIII Select, Many in DIII Non-Select, Ouachita Christian (Monroe) in DIV Select and Oak Grove in DIV Non-Select.
