The Glendora Tartans and the Claremont Wolfpack will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 24th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Glendora is looking to tack on another W to their ten-game streak on the road.
On Saturday, Glendora didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Oak Hills, but they still walked away with a 46-40 victory. Given Glendora's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 47th, while Oak Hills is ranked 162nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Glendora relied on the efforts of Rylie Anderson, who scored 19 points, and Ronnie Herrmann, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and five steals. Herrmann has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Addison Martin was another key contributor, scoring two points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Claremont had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 35.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 53-52 victory over St. Anthony.
Glendora's win bumped their record up to 22-2. As for Claremont, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season.
Glendora came out on top in a nail-biter against Claremont in their previous matchup on January 5th, sneaking past 42-40. The rematch might be a little tougher for Glendora since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
