The Collinwood Trojans will head out on the road to square off against the Perry County Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Tennessee (Collinwood is ranked 142nd, while Perry County is ranked 119th).
Last Friday, Collinwood took a serious blow against Wayne County, falling 64-35. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Collinwood in their matchups with Wayne County: they've now lost eight in a row.
Meanwhile, Perry County put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They breezed by Hughes on the road to the tune of 58-21. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 33-8.
Perry County can attribute much of their success to Maddi Wright, who scored 14 points along with five assists, and Cianna Wilson, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Wilson is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kristan Duncan, who scored nine points.
Collinwood's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-8. As for Perry County, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.
Collinwood skirted past Perry County 46-44 when the teams last played back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Collinwood since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
