Softball Recap: Eastern Wins Going Away Against South Gallia

Eastern got themselves on the board against South Gallia on Monday, but South Gallia never followed suit. They blew past the Rebels 18-0. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won seven games by ten runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Jaidyn McCleese, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrey Quillen, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs.

Eastern was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .485. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matches.

Eastern pushed their record up to 8-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.3 runs over those games. As for South Gallia, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Coming up, Eastern will look to defend their home field on Friday against Green at 5:00 p.m. As for South Gallia, they will challenge Northwest at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
