After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Highland, the Skyline Eagles were happy to have found some success on Friday. They walked away with a 55-45 win over West. That's another feather in the cap for Skyline, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Leading Skyline to victory were Karson Kaufusi and Kai Sorenson. Kaufusi scored 15 points along with six rebounds, while Sorenson scored 11 points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Sorenson pulled down eight or more rebounds. Landon Shaw was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Chachi Pan, who scored 15 points along with four steals. That's the first time this season that Pan scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Phillip Ladua, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds.
West struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Skyline racked up 14 assists.
Skyline's victory bumped their record up to 10-6. As for West, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Skyline will challenge Brighton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Brighton is ranked 38th, while Skyline is ranked 37th). As for West, they will head out on the road to challenge Highland at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Highland's favor as the squad sits on five straight wins at home while West has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road.
