The Deweyville Pirates's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They fell to Veritas Classical Academy 41-36. Deweyville lost against Veritas Classical Academy in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 54-48 score last time.
Veritas Classical Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ty Merrill, who scored 19 points. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Merrill has scored at least 25% of Veritas Classical Academy's points. Jake Strahan was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Deweyville has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Veritas Classical Academy, they pushed their record up to 7-8 with that win, which was their third straight on the road.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Deweyville will take on Big Sandy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Big Sandy is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Veritas Classical Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Liberty Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Liberty Christian Academy is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
