The Hawthorne Hornets waltzed into their contest Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They came out on top against P.K. Yonge by a score of 69-59. Given Hawthorne's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while P.K. Yonge is ranked 212th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
CJ Ingram was a one-man wrecking crew for Hawthorne as he dropped a double-double on 30 points and 14 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Ingram has scored at least 25% of Hawthorne's points. Alvon Isaac was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds.
Despite the loss, P.K. Yonge still got an impressive performance from Joel Washington, who scored 16 points. The game was Washington's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jantzen Griffin, who scored ten points.
Hawthorne's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for P.K. Yonge, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-3.
Hawthorne and Williston will face off at 6:10 p.m. on December 27th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in Williston's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last nine contests. P.K. Yonge and The Rock will round out the year against one another at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday at. The Rock has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
