Even though the Faith Christian Lions scored an imposing 63 points on Tuesday, the Winter Springs Bears still came out on top. Winter Springs snuck past Faith Christian with a 69-63 win. Given Winter Springs' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while Faith Christian is ranked 225th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Winter Springs' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaiden Williams, who scored 25 points. Those 25 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Terell James, who scored 17 points.
Faith Christian's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Ben Cox, who scored 17 points along with five assists, and Jaelen Spellman who scored 12 points along with six rebounds. That's the first time this season that Cox scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Brandon Rivera, who scored 12 points.
Winter Springs' victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.4 points per game. As for Faith Christian, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Winter Springs will be home for the holidays to greet Lake Howell at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Faith Christian, they will play host again and welcome Harvest Community, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Adrian Walker and Rivera.
