Harlan is 6-1 against Warren since December of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Harlan Hawks will head out on the road to take on the Warren Warriors at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Harlan focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Friday.
Last Friday, Harlan came up short against O'Connor and fell 53-43. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Harlan came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 120th, while O'Connor is ranked 278th).
Alexa Romero put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 21 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaydin Thornton Murray Garrigan, who scored six points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Even though they lost, Harlan smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Warren's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell 39-28 to Jay.
Harlan's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-10. Warren's record is now 13-13.
Everything went Harlan's way against Warren in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as Harlan made off with a 52-30 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Harlan since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
