Basketball Game Preview: Ida Baker Bulldogs vs. Dunbar Tigers

After both having extra time off, the Ida Baker Bulldogs and the Dunbar Tigers will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. Ida Baker is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.

Ida Baker came up into this matchup off a tough 29-point defeat two weeks ago. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Fort Myers by a score of 44-41 two weeks ago. While the Bulldogs didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Green Wave 14-7 in the first quarter.

The losing side was boosted by Maia Berdebes, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 16 boards. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in rebounds. Another player making a difference was Emilee Plummer, who posted ten points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Dunbar duked it out withEast Lee County two weeks ago. Dunbar came out on top against East Lee County by a score of 59-50.

Dunbar's win came from a few key players Ida Baker will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Addision Fuhr, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 21 boards. She has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lisa Guerrero-Salinas, who put up 15 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Ida Baker's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Dunbar, their win ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-6.

Everything came up roses for Ida Baker against Dunbar in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, as the squad secured a 51-17 victory. Will Ida Baker repeat their success, or does Dunbar have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
