The Merritt Island Mustangs can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They walked away with a 39-28 win over Port St. Lucie. The victory was just what Merritt Island needed coming off of a 64-23 loss in their prior match.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Merritt Island to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ada Daniels, who scored five points along with ten rebounds and seven blocks. Daniels is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Leslie Ruiz, who scored seven points along with four steals.
Merritt Island's victory ended a ten-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-17. As for Port St. Lucie, they dropped their record down to 2-17 with that loss, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Merritt Island will face off against the Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Port St. Lucie is on the road again and plays the Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on February 1st. Hopefully Merritt Island focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Thursday.
