A feisty cat fight will be fought as Glenn Bobcats take on Cornerstone Charter Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Glenn is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
On Friday, Glenn narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Mount Tabor 7-6. The Bobcats haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Brayden Winters was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. That stolen base was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Easton Anderson, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Glenn always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Cornerstone Charter put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Chatham Charter by a score of 8-3.
Dylan Anderson made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Cornerstone Charter let Jackson Shaffrey and Brayden Barbee run wild. Shaffrey scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Barbee scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance gave Barbee a new career-high in hits.
Cornerstone Charter's win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Glenn, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Glenn has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .458. However, it's not like Cornerstone Charter struggles in that department as they've averaged .472. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
